Philadelphia Music Alliance Announces “Fall Career Summit-The Process”; Program Begins at 10:00AM on November 15th

PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Philadelphia Music Alliance announces its FALL CAREER SUMMIT-THE PROCESS set for Wednesday, November 15th at the University of the Arts Caplan Hall. Beginning at 10am, the morning activities will include the presentation of donated instruments from Musicopia’s Gift of Music Program. The Music Alliance is a multi-year sponsor of the program.

The Philadelphia Music Alliance presents Career Summits twice a year, held during the Fall and Spring semesters, allowing Philadelphia area high school music students hands-on learning experiences to augment their classroom work, while also learning about the broad scope of music industry careers from professionals in the Philadelphia region, including the creative and business sides of the industry, with a career path focus.

Musicopia is a Philadelphia-based non-profit organization with a mission to provide equitable access to music education and enrichment, encouraging self-confidence, global awareness, dedication and joy in Pre-K to 12th grade students and their communities. Over the past decade, Musicopia’s Gift of Music Program has collected and repaired more than 6,000 donated musical instruments. It has placed more than $1 million worth of new and repaired instruments with those students and schools who need them the most. These students would not otherwise have access to instruments.

Beginning with an introduction on the idea behind The Process, this year’s program offers 4 separate sessions, all in Caplan Hall, including:

The Creative Process, featuring speakers Kristal “Tytewriter” Oliver – GRAMMY nominated songwriter, BoyBVRLY – Philadelphia based independent artist, and Mitch Beer – Producer, Songwriter; leading a discussion about how a song comes together and how do you identify your message and brand.

The Management Process, featuring speakers Reynold ‘Rennie’ Jaffe – president and founder of Another Management Company and others to be added, in a discussion about how the Manager works with an Artist to build a career; how that business meets creative relationship works, and how together they maximize the creative concept and artist brand.

The Recording Process, featuring speakers Ivan Barias – GRAMMY-nominated songwriter/producer, and Kenya Vaun – 300 Entertainment artist, explaining how an engineer or producer works with the artist, taking the song idea and turning it into the “right” sound for the song’s message, and artist’s style.

The Making Money Process, featuring speakers Stephen Cirino – Founder, Future Management, Michael Fiebach – Founder, Main Factor, and Monika Julien – Professor of music marketing, entrepreneurship and gender representation, discussing how an artist and their team make a living; creating awareness of recordings and concerts, how to monetize music and brand and how much it pays.
